A Milling Barn Wedding - Maddie & Giuseppe. - Eyeshine Wedding Photography

Back in June, Midsummer’s Eve to be exact, we photographed the wedding of Maddie & Giuseppe. Remember when the evenings were light right through till 10 o’clock at night? Well it was then. Now the nights are beginning to draw in and soon we have to turn back the clocks so I thought we could instead reminisce of sunnier times. What better way than sharing the wonderful beautiful summer wedding of Maddie & Giuseppe at Milling Barn near Buntingford?

It was an early start for us both. The couple opted for an 11 o’clock church ceremony. They wanted to spend the day celebrating with all their friends and family, not spend the majority of their big day getting ready (and nervous!). How perfect!

The couple were married at the Church of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception & St Joseph in Cheshunt. A very fitting traditional ceremony for the couple and their catholic families. As Maddie & Giuseppe left the church, the confetti fluttered in every direction helping create a wonderful joyous photograph.

The reception took place at Milling Barn near Buntingford in Hertfordshire. It was a new venue for us but we had visited it just a few days before with the couple and fell in love with it at first sight.

Milling Barn is a renovated barn set in the picturesque countryside of Hertfordshire. Surrounded by fields of wheat, secluded woodland and a huge ancient oak tree the picture opportunities are endless. At the pre wedding shoot we were able to discuss the photography, our ideas and most importantly, check that the couple were in agreement. Maddie & Giuseppe were really very keen to take advantage of the fields and woodland. They were happy to wander across the fields and get some beautiful romantic shots. Maddie even ditched her bridal shoes at one point. That’s commitment!

Throughout the wedding breakfast the party atmosphere was in full swing with a very apparent continuous sound of clinking glasses. The groom is from a large Italian family and fortunately we had been warned to expect a lot of glass clinking. It’s an Italian wedding custom that guests take it in turns to chink a glass and every time this happens the newlyweds have to kiss, always met with roars of cheering and applause. Giuseppe’s grandmother was particularly fond of this tradition and it was great for photographs too!

Following the meal and speeches the warm evening light was perfect so whilst guests socialised in the venue’s gardens we were able to spend a little more time with Maddie & Giuseppe getting some stunning shots of them both. The long grasses and rural views were great backdrops for this mid summer’s wedding.

It was then a return to the barn for a very lively first dance. The bride and groom were lifted high up to the shoulders of their friends and everyone was covered in confetti and streamers. A perfect finale to a beautiful Milling Barn wedding.
