Photography at The Fennes - Eyeshine Wedding Photography

It’s a Throwback Thursday post for this weeks blog showing some of our wedding photography at The Fennes.

Back in 2014 Tracy and Richie booked us to photograph their vintage styled wedding at The Fennes, an intimate venue set in the Essex countryside near Braintree. The venue boasts a beautiful Georgian manor house with manicured lawns, well kept gardens, and a picturesque bridge over a lake, all of which make photography at The Fennes easy. Picture perfect for a vintage styled wedding.

The wedding took place in late summer on 19th September. The couple were lucky because it ended up being one of the hottest days of the year. You never can guess what the great British weather will do!

The warm weather meant we were able to photograph the couple in the gardens. The borders were full of beautiful flowers including purple swaying verbenas still in full bloom. These long flowery stems made a perfect frame to many of our images that day. We were also able to use the white wooden bridge. The image of the married couple sat relaxed on the bridge is one of our favourite images of their wedding day. The warm weather also meant guests mingled in the gardens into the late evening.

Tracy and Richie were passionate about the photography for their big day and we spent a lot of time discussing ideas. One photo opportunity the couple really wanted us to capture was their ‘first look’. The beautiful bedrooms and staircase helped create a really special moment.

The couple are both fans of the glamour and style of the 1930s. Because of this they had sourced many of the pieces for the day. We first met Tracy and Richie at The Vintage Wedding Fair. From the outset we understood that the details of their chosen theme were an instrumental part of the wedding day. We ensured that we documented all of these elements for the complete story of their day.

The couple had an old vintage typewriter set up where guests could type congratulatory messages. A worn brown leather suitcase was in place for guests to leave wedding cards. There was also an old gramophone and records for guests to play. Vintage art deco packs of card were creatively hand made into name place cards. Each card was also adorned with sprayed gold vintage keys. The bride spent hours scouring eBay to find the vintage keys and Ebay was also the source of the vintage tea cups for the table displays. Tracy sprayed the keys and cups gold.

Fitting in with the vintage theme the Blossom Florist in Witham produced an unusual antique rose and ostrich feather bouquet. In addition to this the table displays matched with roses and feathers in oversized cocktail glasses with draped pearls. Finally the fabulous wedding cake made by Emma of Lottie & Jakes in Maldon also mirrored the bouquet and table displays with pearls and feather decorations.

As a result of all these details, Tracy and Richie created a perfect vintage styled wedding at The Fennes which was fabulous and fun to photograph!
