Did you know we also photograph families? Father’s Day is very nearly here so we thought it was the perfect time to share one of our recent documentary family photo shoots.
This blog is all about a beautiful family as they welcomed their newest addition, a new baby son.
Just weeks old and with two doting big sisters there were so many beautiful moments to photograph. The big sister sang a lullaby, the mum rocked the baby to sleep and the proud dad gave the baby a sink bath and we were able to photograph all those moments that this family can now cherish for years to come.
We avoid those cumbersome white photographic backdrops and lighting, opting for natural light and natural locations to get those real natural moments. Those proud parent glimpses and cheeky giggles, avoiding the forced awkward grins and uncomfortable stares at the camera.
How do our documentary family photo shoots work?
Our sessions are approximately an hour long (never shorter, we will never understand how photographers offer 15 minute sessions; how is it possible to even get to know anyone in that time?). At Eyeshine Photography our sessions are about being natural, relaxed occasions. We allow time to meet you all, chat and relax in each others company. It’s important to have time to interact and play with the children. Children want a friendly fun person not just a camera shoved in their faces. We certainly don’t want our sessions to be about beating the clock so there’s no feeling of being rushed at all.
We will spend time planning the shoot before hand with you too. Discussing locations, lighting situations as well as what clothes to wear. All these elements will enhance the look and atmosphere of the final images.
All our documentary family photo shoots include a beautiful wooden keepsake box with a USB of all the edited print ready images and a selection of fine art prints.
