As it starts to feel autumnal we thought we really should share some of our favourite summer weddings of the past season. And what better summer wedding to start with than Suzie & Steve’s beautiful day at Newland Hall in Chelmsford.
As is always the case Dan met the groomsmen to photograph their preparation whilst I spent the morning photographing Susie and her mum and bridesmaids.
Following hair and makeup at the bride’s mother’s house we all travelled onto the venue. Newland Hall offers a beautiful bridal room decorated with soft pale shades. A perfect light and airy room for bridal photography. There is also a lovely large window. This created some fab pictures as the excited bridal party secretly watched guests arriving and congregating on the manicured lawns below.
The couple opted for an outside ceremony surrounded by close family and friends. The small ceremony gazebo set amongst a walled garden with mature trees, shrubs and lawns created such a special romantic moment.
We had previously met Susie and Steve at Newland Hall for their pre wedding shoot. This meant we knew there were endless possibilities for pictures. We find doing this little pre wedding shoot is the perfect practice for the big day. Not only does it help banish all those nerves and any self-consciousness about being in front of the camera, it also means we can work efficiently allowing as much time as possible for the couple to celebrate with all their guests!
Following drinks and canapes served on the secluded lawns the guests all entered the beautifully decorated marquee for the wedding breakfast.
We feel we must make mention of the absolutely brilliant magician, Nick Crown. Nick entertained guests during the reception drinks and wedding breakfast. He certainly wowed the guests (and us) and created so many fabulous spontaneous moments for us the photograph too!
We also witnessed a fabulous throwing of the bride’s bouquet. Not sure if the winner of the bouquet was pleased or not. Take a look and see what you think!
And finally a special note must also be added for the speeches. As is always the case all families are different. I’m not sure there is such a thing as a typical traditional wedding now (thankfully) and of course this wedding was no different. On this occasion it was the sister of the bride that made a speech (as opposed to the father of the bride). We have to say it has to be up there with one of our favourite speeches ever (and we’ve heard a lot!). It was delivered perfectly and so funny, again making our job to capture those awesome belly laugh moments easy!
