Chelsea & Matt’s Wedding | The Compasses at Pattiswick

Early October brought with it golden light, crisp autumn air, and the perfect setting for Chelsea & Matt’s beautifully relaxed autumn wedding at The Compasses at Pattiswick. Tucked away in the Essex countryside, this cosy laid-back venue was the ideal backdrop for their intimate celebration.

We first met Chelsea and Matt at a wedding open day at The Compasses, and from our very first conversation we knew we were a great fit. That connection was sealed even further when we discovered their incredibly adorable (and impeccably well-behaved) dog would be attending as guest of honour.

She made her grand entrance during reception drinks, just in time for portraits, and quickly became the star of the show. The dog-friendly outdoor spaces at The Compasses, along with the nearby footpaths, gave us the perfect opportunity to capture relaxed, natural portraits of the three of them together – some of our favourites from the day.

Chelsea & Matt fully embraced the beauty of the season with thoughtfully chosen autumn wedding details that complemented both the time of year and the venue’s rustic charm. Chelsea’s bouquet was a stunning, naturalistic design filled with texture and seasonal tones – rich red berries, metallic blue sea holly, and dramatic wild pheasant feathers came together to create a beautifully organic look. The groomsmen echoed the autumnal aesthetic effortlessly in matching tweed waistcoats and jackets, with earthy hues and tactile fabrics that tied everything together seamlessly.

The wedding breakfast was elegantly understated with glowing pillar candles on foliage-adorned log slices. One of our favourite personal touches was the bar display, where Chelsea and Matt’s favourite drinks were specially labelled and waiting for guests. A small but meaningful detail that reflected their personalities.

As the day drew to a close, Chelsea & Matt were treated to yet another unforgettable moment: a breathtaking Pattiswick sunset. Soft golden light spilled across the Essex countryside, giving them the most beautiful ending to their wedding day.
