Favourite Five wedding photographs

Well 2020, what a year it has been for everyone! Sadly all our 2020 couples have now decided to postpone their wedding days. Who can blame them? A wedding is a day to celebrate with all your loved ones. With restricted numbers at weddings still in force, it’s no wonder all of our couples have postponed their plans until next year.

Without weddings to photograph it got us reminiscing. It got us thinking about all the wonderful wedding days we have shared with truly amazing couples. Whilst flicking through our archives, we had a little brainwave. Why not let the couples do the talking? They can choose their own images and they can share their reasons why these are the images that are important.

So we asked our couples to choose their ‘favourite five’ photographs from their wedding day and tell us in their own words the reasons why.

Choosing just 5 images was never going to be an easy task. (Our all-day wedding photography packages usually result in a gallery of some 600 finished photographs). Yet narrowing down the selection was not meant to be mean. Just five images highlights the important, memorable moments. Not necessarily those big wedding moments but often, interestingly, the small unnoticed moments.

We know we have worked with some fabulous people and this blog has proved it yet again. The feedback has been amazing and the responses have been really quite heart warming and, to be honest, could not have come at a better time.

Again, we would like to thank all of our couples who have taken part & we hope to be showing as many of these ‘Favourite Five’ as possible over the next few weeks & months. We really hope you enjoy seeing them as much as we have.

Starting this series are Suzy & Dan. They married back in May 2017 at The Holy Trinity Church in Rayleigh. Their reception was held at The Rayleigh Club. (Their wedding day can be seen on the blog below.)

So, without further ado (drum-roll please), here are Suzy & Dan’s Favourite Five, accompanied by their own words…

Happy bride waving inside wedding car

As a little girl, Mum and I would race to the top of the high-street to the church when we heard the peel of bells just to catch a glimpse of the bride and give her a wave. On our wedding day, I couldn’t quite believe that I was that bride and that other little girls and their mums were waving at me! Also, I’d been so calm all morning whilst getting ready but once in the car with my Dad we kept setting each other off crying but managed to just about compose ourselves as we pulled up at the church!

Groom preparing for wedding day

Dan chose, as one of his favourites, the picture of him and his groomsmen getting ready and sorting out their ties. Having two photographers meant that the groomsmen had their morning captured too, something not ordinarily possible.

Rayleigh church wedding photography

Our first kiss as husband and wife….We both love this picture as it marked such a special moment in our day. I think that I was a little over enthusiastic as I just grabbed Dan’s face in excitement! We also loved that you could see the beautiful stain glassed window in the church behind us.

Rayleigh Club wedding phptography

The Rayleigh Club has such beautiful grounds and our favourite picture is us under the willow tree. We used this picture on our thank you cards, many of our family have it on display and we also have it poster sized on the wall in our living room. Living locally, we’ve also visited the Rayleigh Club a few times since our wedding for special occasions and we managed to capture a beautiful family photograph in front of that same tree with our 6 month old daughter.

Finally, we have chosen the picture of Dan’s Nanny Pat signing our guest book. This perfectly captured moment places her just in front of our photo display of wedding pictures of our parents and grandparents. In the background you can see Nanny Pat on her wedding day with her late husband. It was important to us to remember those grandparents who weren’t with us on the day (but definitely there in spirit).

A big thank you to Suzy and Dan. We love the pictures that you have selected – anyone who has met us at a wedding fair might recognise the first picture as it is framed on our display (and it’s on our homepage too), we just love how that image captures your joy and excitement. Thank you also for including this lovely picture of you and your gorgeous daughter – this does make it six pictures on this page, but it’s not cheating as this one wasn’t taken by us on your wedding day!!
